Biography
Patrick
Caffrey, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist with over twenty-five years
experience as a rehabilitation psychologist and neuropsychologist providing
direct patient care in brain injury rehabilitation hospitals and acute
hospital settings, serving the diagnostic categories of chronic neurological
disease i.e. MS, spinal cord injury, stroke, traumatic brain injury,
blind and low vision and brain tumors. He has additional extensive experience
as a vocational specialist, regional manager in private sector rehabilitation,
in a university-based technical assistance project to Missouri educators
modifying curriculum for disabled students, site supervisor of psychological
services, visiting university lecturer and in hospital teaching.
Dr. Caffrey
also brings his unique perspective as a survivor of a C3-C4 incomplete
spinal cord injury with resulting quadriplegia from a 1972 Center
Senior High School wrestling match. He recovered well and connects
with patients and their families because of the shared experience
of a life-altering injury. Dr. Caffrey's Mother was diagnosed with
MS in 1981. Dr. Caffrey, as a neuropsychologist, has joined the staff
of neurologists, neurosurgeons, physiatrists and neuro-radiologists
of the Mid America Brain and Stroke Institute of St Luke's
Health System group and also maintains a private practice.
